Build log 001: shipping cr8r.one
Sample post · for review before launch
The first entry in the log. What we built this week, what we cut and why.
This is the first build log. The format is simple: what we shipped, what we cut and what we learned.
Shipped
- cr8r.one. The site you are reading. It puts the work first: the creations come before any mention of services.
- The 8 as a system. One geometry for the logo, the dividers, the flywheel diagram and the loading marks. One mark, many uses.
- Small-size symbol. At 16 pixels the diagonal cut in the 8 closed up. We widened it for small sizes so it stays open.
Cut
- A services section on the homepage. Client work matters, but it is not what Cr8r is. Studio has its own page.
- Stock photography. None. Type, product interfaces and diagrams do the work.
Learned
Motion is easy to add and hard to justify. Every animation on the site had to show a system, progress or an interaction. Most of the first ideas did not pass.
Next log: what we learn from the first month of real traffic.
